About Vinegar Hill

The Battle of Vinegar Hill occurred during the Irish Rebellion of 1798 on 21 June 1798. On this day, over 15,000 Crown Forces soldiers launched an attack on the rebel camp at Vinegar Hill in Enniscorthy. It marked a turning point in the rebellion, as it was the last attempt by the rebels to hold and defend ground against the Crown Forces.
